Ways to Strengthen Your Hair and Prevent Breakages

Hair breakage is a problem that many of us face. Hair’s unhealthy can break more frequently, leading to your hair looking dull and frizzy and being harder to maintain.

Keeping your hair healthy and strong can be a challenge, particularly if you lead a busy and active lifestyle. There are lots of different factors that can all add up to affect the health and appearance of your hair. Luckily, there are lots of steps you can take to improve the health of your hair, increase its strength, and reduce breakages.

Here are some top tips to grow hair strong, healthy, and looking great:

1. Use a shampoo and conditioner that’s right for your hair

Your hair needs essential nutrients and moisture to help strengthen it and keep it shiny and healthy-looking. Products such as biotin shampoo and stem cell shampoo contain natural ingredients. Biotin and plant stem cells help to rejuvenate the skin in your scalp and repair your hair follicles.

Make sure you choose a shampoo that’s suited for your hair type as some products will be much more effective for you than others. Using a good biotin shampoo or stem cell shampoo can show positive results after a few weeks. Be careful not to wash your hair too much, as this can lead to a damaged scalp.

2. Protect your hair from high temperatures

Hairdryers, hair straighteners, and other styling tools expose your hair to high temperatures. High temperatures can cause damage to your hair.

To protect your hair from high temperatures, lower the heat setting on your tools or use a heat protecting spray before use. Avoiding high temperatures altogether is best, but a heat protecting spray will help to reduce the amount of damage your hair suffers.

3. Use a detangler product

Damaged hair can often be less elastic, meaning that combing or styling it will cause more breakages. To help to alleviate this, you can use a detangler, which keeps your hair protected when you comb it. There are lots of different detanglers on the market, and you can even find some that also protect your hair from high temperatures.

4. Comb your hair during conditioning

Weak hair can get damaged during combing and so you’ll need to be careful at first. Try only to comb your hair while your conditioner is in. This will protect the hair. It also gives the nutrients of the conditioner time to soak into the hair and your scalp. Make sure you brush regularly, as this will help to remove dry and damaged hair, allowing new hairs to grow.

5. Use silk pillowcases

As you sleep, your hair can become damaged, particularly if you move a lot during your sleep. If you use cotton pillowcases, your hair can become more damaged due to cotton being much rougher on the hair. Using a silk pillowcase, your hair will suffer less breakage during the night, and hopefully, it will also help you to get a good night’s sleep.

6. Avoid hair elastics

Elastic hair ties are really useful for keeping your long hair out of your face and keeping messy hair tidy and out of the way. The problem is when you leave your hair tied up for too long and too tightly, they pull on the hair and scalp. You can try to tie them more loosely and should also try to leave your hair down every once in a while. This will prevent damage to your hair follicles.

7. Protect your hair before coloring

Ideally, you should avoid coloring your hair altogether if you have damaged hair already. Hair dyes and bleach can cause a lot of damage to your hair, especially if you’re doing it regularly. Try to leave eight to ten weeks between coloring sessions and make sure to protect your hair before and after having it colored.

This can reduce the amount of damage your hair suffers and keep it looking healthy even after bleaching it.

8. Keep your hair trimmed regularly

Some people try to avoid the hairstylist if they’re suffering from damaged hair. But getting your hair cut regularly is a way to prevent further damage. Removing the old hair and split ends during a trim will help stimulate more hair growth in your scalp. When combined with the other tips, you’ll see your hair growing back much healthier.
